Retired

I was in Brookings on the south Oregon coast, with my wife and son, photographing boats for painting subjects. I came across this boat, the "Bonnie C" in a dirt lot among other retired boats. Beside the boat was a large trash bin, and on deck a man with a chain saw was just beginning to dismantle it. I asked him if I could photograph it and he gave me the O.K. As we talked, I found out that the Bonnie C was built in Tacoma, Washington in 1907 and that there had been a painting done of the boat in the 1920's and the 1960's. This painting is most likely the last one done of this old vessel.

This painting was completed in 2001. It was held off the market so it could be displayed in the Summer 2002 show at Exclusive Accents Gallery.
